Lale Sokolov (Jonah Hauer-King) is a Jewish captive in a concentration camp during World War II. His duty is to tattoo identification numbers on prisoners, but one individual in particular catches his attention: a young lady named Gita (Anna Próchniak).

Harvey Keitel portrays an older rendition of Sokolov in the present day, recounting his tale to Morris, played by Melanie Lynskey. The Tattooist of Auschwitz is not merely a love story, but also a tale of perseverance, resolve, valor, strength, and optimism as Sokolov and others go to great lengths to keep their comrades alive amidst perilous, horrifying conditions.
